LabS is the structural testing platform of the Faculty of Engineering
Our teams design high-capacity structural tests in the laboratory and deploy instrumentation in situ on civil engineering structures in their real environment. We support you from test planning through to test execution.
Laboratory and equipments
The LabS platform includes, among other equipment:
- 2 laboratories (totaling 14,000 ft²);
- 3 reaction walls (7 m and 12 m);
- 40 hydraulic actuators (from 5 to 2,500 kN);
- 6 hydraulic presses (up to 12,000 kN);
- 1 seismic table;
- 2 MAST-type systems (6 DOF);
- Data acquisition systems, force and displacement sensors, and more.
Services
The facilities are accessible to the entire community (researchers, public institutions, private companies).
LabS supports you in carrying out medium- and large-scale projects such as:
- Destructive or non-destructive testing on structural components;
- In-situ dynamic characterization tests;
- Engineering and technical services for the preparation of laboratory tests.
Testing portfolio
Founded as a platform in 2019, LabS builds on a testing expertise that began in 1972.
Its staff has extensive experience in the following types of testing:
- Quasi-static destructive testing;
- Dynamic testing;
- Hybrid testing;
- Standardized material testing;
- Dynamic characterization of structures.
